About This Course
- Listening:
The learner can understand familiar words and simple phrases about themselves, family, and immediate surroundings when people speak slowly and clearly.
- Reading:
The learner can recognize familiar names, words, and very simple sentences in notices, posters, and catalogs.
- Speaking
- Interaction:
The learner can interact in a simple way, provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate and help them formulate what they are trying to say. They can ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.

The learner can write a short, simple greeting card (e.g., for a holiday) and fill in personal details on forms, such as name, nationality, and address on a hotel registration form.
